Small Kitchen
The kitchen is the new living room as many people are spending more and more quality time in the kitchen compared to the previous times. People nowadays are paying more attention to their cooking area because they want to have a more cozy cooking space where they can also entertain and socialize with their family and friends. But we must admit that not all kitchens have the same luxury which is the space. Everyone can find a small kitchen far and wide. But that doesn’t mean that they are not stylish, in fact, many of them are decorated in a very fashionable way, whether contemporary and minimalist manner or heavily furnished in a traditional, classic way. Follow these guidelines to make you kitchens look brighter, better!
A small kitchen however requires some special considerations. One must remember that he/she should create an illusion of the much-needed space, by using pastel colors and keep a close eye to the lighting effects as it can create the illusion of large room. The use of lines can also enhance this illusion by using the vertical lines when you want to draw more attention to the height of the kitchen or by using the thick, horizontal lines which can visually expand the room.
Another way of making a small kitchen look spacious is to choose the most appropriate appliances. It is unsuitable if you see huge refrigerators – the swing door types or the large stainless steel dishwasher and stovetop on a confined in a small room. The appliances should be in proportion with the whole kitchen. Arrange the pieces of equipment that it does not block the walking area.
Make sure to maximize storage. Use the kitchen cabinets, drawers, containers that perfectly fit into their designated places. There are lots of storage items that can be bought from the hardware but if you are looking for the custom-made types, have someone make it for you. For sure you can never go wrong because you can tell what you specifically have in mind.
Use mirrors. This trick may be one of the most common means to create an illusion but it still works. Be sure to place them in an area where there is plenty of light and minimal appliances are blocking the view. Layout your kitchen flooring with the use of large tiles. Lay them in a diagonal manner because it creates a larger floor plan.
These guidelines will surely help you make the most of your small kitchen. But remember, more important than space is the functionality. Each gadget should have a specific use and if possible, look for the multi-functional ones. It just takes some good planning and a lot of passion and inspiration to make the most out of your kitchen.
