MFI Kitchens
MFI kitchen units were made by a British furniture dealer out of London called MFI Group, Ltd. The company enjoyed huge sales, and had been in business since 1964. They became insolvent in late 2008.
Although they were a huge chain store, and their items were quite popular, they became shrouded in controversy for misleading customers in regards to advertised sales, and also for an advert that stirred up debate which resulted in officials saying that the ad “was likely to cause serious or widespread offense to viewers and could be seen to condone intimidation, domestic violence and aggression as an acceptable way to resolve issues”. As a result of these and more factors, MFI Group went into administration in 2008, and was defunct by December of that year, disappointing many consumers.
Consumer reactions to the products themselves were mixed, though generally the buying public had a favorable opinion of MFI furnishings. They were and are sleek and modern, attractive furniture units with a unique and stylish look. Due to the MFI stores having gone under, eBay is now one of the main places where MFI units can be bought. MFI liquidated stock can also be found through MFI Customer Services at www.mfikitchendoors.co.uk, focusing on a wide selection of laminate kitchen doors, with name-brands and styles such as:
- Padova
- Hampstead
- Lisbon
- Salcombe
- Valencia
- Woodbridge
- Woodstock
MFI at one time had over 100 stores across the UK, peaking with over 50 million units sold per year, going to 2.5 million households in Northern Ireland and the UK. The fact that the stores seemed to be everywhere likely contributed to the brand’s popularity. MFI also manufactured furniture products for bedrooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, lounges, and home offices. In most cases, buyers of now ex-MFI stock can get their goods at cut-rate prices.
If you’ve spent hundreds, or even thousands of dollars outfitting your bedroom, bathroom, dining room, office, or kitchen with MFI furnishings, there are places you can get replacement units and parts at great prices, if need be. Questions about quality was not the reason MFI went into administration, so there should be a good lifespan on its products, providing you and your home with decades of durable, stylish use in almost every room of the house.
